Please allow me to tell you a little bit about my background in Beauty Therapy and my discovery of the Karin Herzog Oxygen creams over 20 years ago. As a teenager I don't remember ever having a blackhead, so it certainly came as a rude shock to break out after I had my son - and a greater shock when I was left with a scar on my cheek, my perfect skin was ruined! I was determined to rid myself of this ugly mark and began my quest of scouring every beauty counter in London. They all promised that their products would stop the acne outbreaks, and close the huge scar (only small as I look back). I bought so many creams I began hiding them, but they showed on our bank account! Nothing worked… Tetracycline caused my skin to be sensitive to sunlight, etc. etc.

In the late 70's my husband's job took us to Hong Kong and so my quest continued, but the beauty counters there were no different… I became cynical and mocked beauty commercials on TV and magazines. One day I spotted an advertisement in the local newspaper - a French Institute was offering courses in Beauty Therapy, Aromatherapy etc and I decided to enroll for my personal benefit. I wanted to get down to the nitty gritty, how the skin really functioned and if face creams were just a lot of hocus pocus…

On my enrollment the teacher took me to the classroom and put some cream on two painful spots on my jaw line and immediately I felt a tingling as it rapidly penetrated and the pressure from the spot eased… I looked at the smiling teacher in great awe. I immediately purchased this (oxygen) cream and applied it 3-4 times a day, and within a few days the acne was gone!!!

For the first time in 10 years something worked and was reasonably priced, in a simple white tube with the red writing: Karin Herzog Oxygen Cream - Made in Switzerland. I then tried the only other cream of Karin Herzog that I knew of back then - the cellulite cream that tingled its way into my thighs, destroyed every little trace of cellulite and left my skin silky soft. Before we went on to Brunei, I asked my French teacher for the address of the KH creams, but she said, "Sorry, they were friends of hers and only made them especially for her…" Yeah, right!

But over the years of never seeing the creams again I began to wonder if she had told me the truth. To cut a long story short, after operating a Salon in England we came to Nassau in '84 and I opened a Salon and Beauty Institute under the name of B Beautiful, offering treatments and training using the excellent Guinot range, but Karin Herzog kept drifting in and out of my thoughts.

We left Nassau in 1993 (husband's career again!) Anyway, the bottom line is I picked up a magazine a couple of years ago and to my utter delight there was a photo of Karin Herzog Oxygen Creams. I screamed and my husband thought I had fallen down the stairs. We were returning to the Bahamas after living in Ethiopia, Kenya and around the Indian sub-continent, and I had decided to open a small electrolysis studio on a three-day basis.

Now you see, dear reader, my plans have changed drastically. I opened Beauty Secrets on the Cable Beach, but the products became so popular that I had to leave the treatments side to other salons and spas around the islands, in order to devote all my time to training and distributing! Dr Paul Herzog was born in 1911 in Bucharest, Romania. For 30 years he worked with the Karolinska Hospital, at the Nobel Institute in Stockholm. He actively participated in the discovery and development of the "respirator," which is used to ventilate the lungs of patients undergoing open-heart surgery. He also invented a method by which the respiratory tracts are humidified with the aid of ultra-sound. This enables the exact measurement of humidity needed on inspiration.

Another invention of his is the famous method of calculating artificial ventilation that is used all over the world. One day, this brilliant, accomplished scientist, whilst studying the difficulties some surgeons encountered because of an allergy to disinfectants, succeeded in what many before him had tried in vain to accomplish - the stabilizing of oxygen in the form of an emulsion.

Dr Herzog and his wife Karin went on for eight years to painstakingly perfect this in a cream, adding essential vitamins and other vital ingredients. When these creams are applied, there is an injection of oxygen, and the released pressure has the effect of massage on the layers of the skin, unblocking the capillary blood vessels and allowing the blood to carry vital substances to the skin cells. This literally spring-cleans the capillaries, essential for delivering nutrients to the cells "to let the skin breathe…" Dr Lorenc MD, the award-winning surgeon and lecturer on endoscopic plastic surgery worldwide, was interviewed on WebMDHealth. Here's what he has to say regarding Karin Herzog products… "Several studies have shown that lack of oxygen in the tissues causes ageing. Oxygen content in a newborn baby is close to 98 millimeters of mercury.As we age - and specifically pass puberty - and get into our 20's and 30's, the oxygen tension decreases all the way down to 25 millimeters of oxygen.

There are papers by both Paul Herzog from Switzerland and Dr Charles Farr from Oklahoma that show that if you increase oxygen content in the skin, you will slow down the ageing process. The fact, the scientific proof, is that if one measures the oxygen content in the tissue with a trancscutaneous monitor, it goes up when the cream is applied. It measures direct oxygen pressure within the tissue.

I believe that Karin Herzog products actually increase the oxygen content in the skin and it has been proven clinically, where post-operatively patients are also placed on 3% oxygen body cream, which is applied to the wound and typically a patient such as that will heal as well as a patient who is a non-smoker. That is what convinced me! I have used Karin Herzog products in my practice for the last four years pre-operatively - specifically on patients who are smokers and where I expect wound healing to be less than ideal post-operatively. The mechanism of its action is that the product is an emulsion of hydrogen peroxide that once applied to the skin dissociates into water and oxygen. The water moisturizes the skin and the oxygen is driven into the level of the dermis, thereby increasing its oxygen content. Vitamin A, C and E are important. The Vita-A-Kombi One has 1% oxygen, it also contains Vitamin A and E and the hydrogen peroxide suspension. It is used as a moisturizer. I personally use it after shaving, twice a day."
